Of course not. Owning such a program is not illegal in Germany. Selling it is. |

I think it is very dangerous to tell people that "copying protected media for private use is not a crime". Considerung just law it is illegal. Which means that there is a punishment mentioned in the law for doing so. However if nobody finds the media which broke that law you wont get trouble. Sure like robbing a bank and not getting caught wont cause trouble either. But its still illegal by laws text.
IF however you get into trouble because of something else... Lets say you copyied a bunch of DVDs for you friends (fair use) and a few for your own backup and the police gets involved because you shared another bunch of music files on the net then they are likely to not make a difference about it. It is all infringement of valid copyright law in their eyes.
Anyway what is the point of copying DVDs for private use if the software for doing it is allready considered illegal. |
